आधार कार्ड
Aadhaar card
Required: Original and self-attested copy
Cost: Free
Address on Aadhaar must match the RTO jurisdiction where you're applying. If you've recently moved, update your Aadhaar address first
Address proof
Required: Original and copy — Aadhaar (preferred), utility bill, passport, voter ID
Cost: Free
Aadhaar is accepted as both identity and address proof. If using Aadhaar for both, no additional address document is needed
Age proof
Required: Original and copy — Aadhaar, passport, birth certificate, or class 10 mark sheet
Cost: Free
Minimum age: 18 years for car/motorcycle (without gear), 20 years for transport vehicle. 16 years for motorcycle up to 50cc with parent consent
Passport-size photographs
Required: 4-6 photos, recent, colour, white background
Cost: INR 20-50
Some RTOs capture your photo digitally during the visit — carry photos as backup
Medical certificate (Form 1-A)
Where to get: Any registered medical practitioner
Required: Original — required for transport vehicle licenses and applicants over 40 (for renewal)
Cost: INR 50-200
For private vehicle licenses (non-transport), medical certificate is a self-declaration on the application form. A separate certificate is only required for transport licenses or if you have a medical condition
