Emirates ID
Required: Original Emirates ID of the registered owner
Where to get: Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security

Per the MOI service card, Emirates ID is the primary identification for renewal. The MOI app authenticates via UAE PASS using your Emirates ID profile.
Valid vehicle insurance
Required: Policy from an authorised insurer with 13 months of validity
Where to get: Any UAE-licensed motor insurer
Cost: Premium varies by vehicle, age and driver profile
Per the MOI service card, the insurance must be 13 months — covering the 12-month registration period plus the standard one-month grace. Authorised insurers transmit policies to MOI/RTA electronically.
Fahas
Vehicle technical inspection result (used vehicles)
Required: Pass result from an authorised testing centre
Where to get: Tasjeel, Tamam, Wasel, Shamil (Dubai); Abu Dhabi inspection centres; or any RTA-approved centre
Cost: Inspection centre fee — varies by emirate
Per the UAE Government Portal, vehicles produced in the last three years before registration are exempt from the inspection. New vehicles can renew without visiting a centre.
