Notes: Determines which Electoral Registration Officer processes your application. Overseas voters use the postcode of their last UK address.
National Insurance number
Required: Requested on the form; not strictly mandatory
Where to find: Payslip, P60, or HMRC correspondence
If you do not have a National Insurance number, the form lets you continue and the Electoral Registration Officer will confirm your identity through other means.
Current residential address in Scotland
Required: Address where you live in the relevant Scottish council area
Your address determines which Electoral Registration Officer receives your application and which Scottish Parliament constituency, Scottish local ward, and UK Parliament constituency you register in.
Nationality declaration
Required: Declared on the form
British, Irish, qualifying Commonwealth, EU, or other foreign national with leave to remain. Nationality determines which elections you are eligible to vote in once registered.
