General
When can I start the renewal process?
You can renew up to six months before the card expires. The federal portal explicitly allows renewal either before or after expiry, but renewing before expiry avoids the late fee that begins one month after the expiry date.
My Emirates ID expired more than a month ago โ what happens?
A late fee of AED 20 per day applies starting one month after the expiry date, capped at AED 1,000. Renew as soon as possible โ many government and banking services check Emirates ID validity in real time and may decline transactions while your card is expired.
Do I need to give fingerprints again at renewal?
Anyone aged 15 or older must complete fingerprint and signature procedures at an ICP service centre as part of the renewal. Children under 15 typically renew without an in-person biometric visit. ICP's official guidance is the canonical source for any age-tier exceptions.
Can I renew online without visiting a centre?

Does my Emirates ID renew automatically when my residence visa renews?

What if my card is lost or damaged, not expired?
